各位親愛的家長及同學：

Dear parents and students,

今年的八月，可算是回歸正常，老師、學生也可以在七、八月放暑假。校長希望主任及老師們安心休息，所以也盡快完成下年度的工作分配，好讓他們找點時間先作準備，不用八月下旬回校才開始。在八月，學校繼續大型維修，希望令學校更美麗，更有學習氣氛。學校方如常安排一些活動給學生，希望他們也有一個有意義的暑假。

In August this year, everything seems back to normal. Students and teacher can have their summer holidays in July and August. It is hoped that all the senior teachers and teachers can take a good rest, so I tried my very best to finish all the job allocation before I leave Hong Kong for my vacation. They can do some preparation beforehand and they do not need to start doing it in mid-August. During August, all the major repair kept working as we hope our school becomes more beautiful and provide comfortable learning atmosphere to our students. Our school keeps on arranging some activities as usual as we wish they would have a meaningful holiday.

今年八月，我也到了外地旅遊。因為有一位我的學生，他在布吉舉行婚禮，特意邀請我參加，我當然出席，而他更為我安排好行程及住宿的地方，十分感動，因為他已經忙於籌辦自己的婚禮，也為我安排行程，辛苦他。回想一下，他三年級的時候，我是他的體育老師及中文老師，沒有錯，是中文老師。這班是一班精英班，全校約有45人。這班十分團結又勤力。當年在全校活動，嬴取了不少獎項，連遊戲也取得全校冠軍。可惜，也沒機會教他。他是一位品學兼優的學生，是風紀隊長，中學升往九龍一所傳統名校，最後入讀香港中文大學。現在為公務員，但派到內地工作。我們從來沒有失聯，而且曾經一起去外地旅行。在婚禮中，他向貴賓表達謝意時，他居然多謝我，說除了母親外，陳老師是真的由細照顧到大，令我熱淚盈眶，十分感動。時間真的過得很快。這天的宴會再加上布吉這個美麗的渡假地方，真的令我十分放鬆及喜悅。過了兩天，我便轉到曼谷，已經十多年沒有到過，這是一個方便遊客的城市，而且物價不高。很多地方及食物很有水準和心思。我在曼谷也再與這位學生及他的太太聚餐，可以談天說地，十分愉快。當然有分享昔日的事情，我們真的有緣分，因為在我離開曼谷時，居然我們在鐵路站再遇上，令我又驚又喜。我自少就立志成為老師，轉眼間在教育界服務了30年，幸好，學生們仍然記得我。在這旅程中，我在網上平台收到一個信息。她自從十多年前回校探望我，我失聯了，但近日在平台上，展示十多年前的相片，她一試聯絡我。她想多謝我昔日的教學及鼓勵，現在也是一位英文老師，她經常想起我以前教導的方法及說話，也會用作教導自己的學生，真的十分感動。

I left Hong Kong in August for a week. It is because I was invited to join a wedding in Phuket. He was my student. Of course, I tried my very best to participate. He was so helpful to help me arrange all the air-tickets, hotel and even itineraries. I was touch. Actually, he was so busy to organize his wedding but he still found some times to help me do the above arrangement. I recalled my memories. I was his P.E. and Chinese teacher. It is right, I was his Chinese teacher. This class was an elite class with 45 students. They were so hardworking with solidarity. We won all the competitions and got the champion on the game day. It was pity that I had not had any opportunity to teach him again afterwards. He was an all-rounded student. He studied in a traditional and prestigious secondary school in Kowloon. He finally got an offer from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is now a civil servant who is assigned to work in Mainland China. We have never lost our contact even we had a trip together. In his wedding ceremony, his addressed a speech to thank all the guest and he especially thanked me. He said that I was the one who has taken care to him when he was young. It made me rim with tears as I was touched and time really flew. This banquet was held in Phuket where is a fantastic place for vacation. It made me feel relaxed with enjoyment. I stayed there for two days to enjoy the facilities at the hotel and had a walk in the Old Town Market. On the third day, I went to Bangkok to continue my trip. I have not been there for almost a decade. It is a city where is very convenient to the tourists and the price is not high. There are lots of places and food with high standard and thoughtfulness. One night in Bangkok, I had a dinner with my student and his wife. We talked and laughed a lot. We really enjoyed and I planned to Mainland to visit them later. We really have a fate as we met again when I was going to the BTS station to go to the airport. It made me so excited. I made my decision to become a teacher when I was young. I have been working in education field for 30 years. Fortunately, our students still remember me. During this trip, I got a message from a platform in the internet. She visited me in the former school a decade ago. Then we lost our contact. She recently saw a message from the platform which show an old picture of her visiting to me. She really wanted to take this chance to thank me and she said I gave her lots of inspiration and confidence. Now, she is an English teacher in a primary school. She always used the method I used to teach her and incorporated into her teaching now. It really makes me thrilled with happiness.

八月可算是相聚月，我有一位學生是香港足球代表隊隊長，也曾參加中國隊伍，年少更有機會到英國培訓，最後，他選擇回港發展，他也聯絡我要與我聚餐，我當然應約，大家細說當日的事情，十分開心。現在可算是我在工作上的收成期！同學們，你們也要愛你們的老師呀！

This August is a month called a gathering month. A famous footballer who was the member of Hong Kong Football team. He used to join the football team in China. He had a chance to go to England to train. Finally, he selected Hong Kong. He contacted me for a dinner. I was so happy about that and we talked a lot about his childhood. Perhaps, it is time for harvest. LTY students, you should try your best to love your teachers.

暑假期間，同學們有沒有好好完成自己的假期功課？特別是英文科的copybook，今年做得最好的同學會有獎以作鼓勵。希望同學明白假期功課目的是在假期可以維持學習，而且強化自學能力。我在假期前往了荃灣的一個小型書展。這裡的環境舒適又美麗，令人會流連忘返，我也在這裡買了一些書本，最特別是有一天我在屯門某一大書店，看見了一本英文書，就看看內容，發現所用的英文簡單易明，內容又特別，封面簡單又可愛，但太貴了，我便離去了。第二天到了另一間書店，又看到這本書，又發現有折扣，所以買下了。在這個暑假，我不停閱讀，十分吸引的內容，令我不停的追看，甚至在外地旅行，在飛機上，公共交通工具及酒店也閱讀。很快便看完了，是什麼內容？大家想知嗎？看看有多少位同學向我查閱，到某一數量，我便與大家分享。你們在假期有沒有閱讀呢？

During the summer holidays, have you finished your holiday assignments, my students? Please remember to finish your copybook and students do well will be awarded as encouragement. It is hoped that students can understand the holiday assignments can sustain your learning during holidays and it can reinforce your self-directed learning skill. In July, I went to a small book fair in Tsuen Wan. The show room was decorated. It is beautiful and comfortable to make people want to stay and read. I bought some books there. One day, I went to a big bookstore in Tuen Mun. I saw an English book. The cover is very attractive. I took it up and read it, the content is easy to understand and the English is very fluent. However, it is quite expensive, so I put it down and left. On another day, I went to another bookstore and this book appeared. I took it and read it again. It is such a good book. When I took it to the cashier to pay, it had discount. In this summer holidays, I kept on reading it. The content is so special and attractive which made me keep on reading it even when I was on the plane, on other transportation, or in the hotel. I almost finish the book. Perhaps someone want to know the content. Let me see how many students ask me about this book and I will share with all of you. Do you read during this holiday?

八月中旬，主任們已經回校開會為新學年作準備，老師們也在下旬初回校。大家都希望同學們有一個新的體會及體驗，所以參加了不同的會議、工作坊、講座等。在第一天全體老師回校開會，下午，上年的畢業生及家長到校探望老師，更送上西安手信。他們明年升讀中一，希望致謝校長和老師的教導，真叫我們感動！

Senior teachers and I had a meeting in the mid-August for doing the preparation for the new academic year. Teachers also came back after several day as we want to learn with new understanding and experience, then they joined meeting, workshops, seminar and so on. On the first day of the meeting afternoon, a graduate with his mother came back to school to visit teachers. They bought us some souvenirs. He will be the Form 1 student next year and they came back to thank for the love and care by teachers and principal. We are touched.

小一銜接課程在8月23日開始，當天還有家長會、希望家長會更了解學生在學校生活的情況。連續三天的小一銜接課程，同學們都十分投入，也開開心心地上課！

Bridging course for the Primary 1 was held from 23rd to 25th August 2023. On the first day, it also held a parents’ talk which helped parents understand how their children learn and study at school. Students of P.1 were so engaged and happy to have a lesson in the classroom.
